To Myrtle Miles from Agnes, With Love

I found this copy of Jane Eyre at the Foundry…

I found this copy of Jane Eyre at the Foundry. When I showed it to my cousin, Deanna, a fellow dreamer, she first noticed the inscription to Myrtle Miles from her friend Agnes. We had a hard time deciphering it. I confess, I’ve never seen such strange “g”s. But when we finally did, we were able to dream and imagine who these people must be. Were they friends? Star crossed lovers? Fellow students? It’s a mystery we’ll never know. But mystery is exactly what the author of the note must have wanted, considering the heavy reliance on a poem by Shelley. Can you read it??

This is the inscription found inside the book. Can you read it?

  1. I can read MOST of it. The Shelley quote makes most of it easy.
